PostSubject: Tomb Raider I (mission)   Thu Jul 04, 2013 7:34 am

Shoshi came to halt at the west gate exit of Donzogakure and looked around, her expression filled with thought. She looked from left to right for about three seconds in hopes that she just might see someone else, and when she saw no one she sighed depressingly at her predicament. Even though she wasn't as bad as she was when she was younger it seemed her enthusiasm when it came to missions hadn't truly slip and she perhaps had arrived a little to soon - even though she was the one who had agreed to meet at the gate for eight thirty.

Without nothing much else to do and a potential few minutes to waste, Shoshi rested her bag up against a nearby rock and sat on it. She decided to double check everything she needed to for the mission at hand. With her being the only jounin leading a group of two genin she knew that being conscious on this mission was going to be necessary if she was to protect them both. She was having a bit of second doubts on her denying the proposal by the Donkage for her to take along two other jounins instead. But she couldn't help the need to see what the two were capable of, especially since they were Terri's students.

She thought of the two and the information she had been given on them after she had met them the day before at the kage's office. The elder of the two, Chinatsu Taiyo, was some kind of expert in the Explosion Release, which Shoshi was certainly interested in seeing. The other, Hirano Arumi, was from some clan of mutated humans, the Hirano clan. Although from the two's meeting prior she couldn't held thinking that the Hirano girl reminded her off someone she knew a long time ago.

Sighing once more as she bent her head back looking skywards, she waited. Although what was this feeling that she might have been forgetting something important...

Arumi rushed through the streets. Her first A-rank, and she was running behind schedule. Not exactly late, but not early either. She wanted to make a good impression. The genin briefly considered growing wings and just flying there, but decided against it. She wasn't used to navigating at higher altitudes like that, and between the transformation itself and the risk of getting lost it wouldn't save her much time. Besides, the wings would be all but useless underground and she'd need to save her chakra for more helpful transformations.

The monster girl dropped down next to Shoshi, landing on one knee in a bow. She was excited. She'd heard she would be working with the head jounin, and was a bit starstruck seeing her in person. It was a rare honor for a genin to work with such an experienced kunoichi. She wondered what sort of tricks the woman had up her sleeve. "Hirano Arumi reporting in, ma'am."

Looking around, Arumi noticed that the third member of the party wasn't there yet. Heh, looks like Nasty Natsu's running late. She had worked and trained with Chinatsu before and had some respect for her abilities, but had to wonder how effective she'd be in the tunnels, with no birds or dragons to back her up. It was going to be difficult for her, that was for sure.

Natsu checked her bag one last time as she came close the meeting site. She was excited it was her first A rank, real mission. Her brother had been working with her on some other non clan stuff to use before he had to leave for his own mission. It was going to be a real test in her versatility as a ninja.

The blonde sighed seeing Arumi had just beaten her there, before circling lower before jumping down and joining the rest of the group. Instead of her bulky coat and hat she wore the standard under armor shirt, her chunin vest. Her hair was braided back and out of her face, making her eye scope visible. She turned and bowed to the jonin. "So sorry Shoshi-san. It won't happen again." She stood again, her eyes glittering with excitement. "Taiyo Chinatsu Reporting."

As he jumped from building to building Xsalice's mind went through a mental check-list of the basic equipment he had and would need on his mission. "Med-kit . . . Dry Ramen incase we get stranded . . . Yet, sadly no rope . . . Great, just great" He wasn't particularly excited about being drafted at the last minute to go on a mission that would require him, of all people, to venture down into an old rocky tomb that would probably be susceptible to being caved in, but discovering that it was classified as an A-ranked mission was all it took for Xsalice to consider joining.

When he came to the end of the last building before reaching the West Gate exit Xsalice used his legs to push off of the roofs edge, he projected himself some distance before tumbling to the ground and continuing to run at a steady pace. Due to typically flying across rooftops, Xsalice body received minimal to no effects from his tumbling of a landing. As he looked up in mid-stride three other individuals came into his view, presumably these were the other members of the cell that would be working the mission. It wasn't until he came to a skidding halt the kicked up a slight cloud of dust did Xsalice realize he knew two of the three people he would be working with: Hirano Arumi & Taiyo Chinatsu.

As the dust cleared Xsalice was seen with his arms folded and looking up at the woman that he did not know, his transparent blue was visor slightly dusty, but definitely serving it's purpose. With this woman standing in front of him and Arumi and Natsu standing at his sides, Xsalice began questioning the gender ratio that Donzokogakure had. It was a good thing most women seemed to get along with him quite easily. "Sōichirō Xsalice, reporting in ma'am."

One after another, the group seemed to gather. Shoshi greeted each of them with a smile as they appeared. She was accustom to being called "Ms" or "Mrs", but the ma'am comment was one she could always do without since it made her feel old. Regardless, seeing them be so polite to her at least made her nostalgic since when she was younger politeness towards authority wasn't something she was good at - of course though people were different.

Shoshi looked at them one more time, wondering whether her decision was really right. God forbid anything was to happen to them since she had agreed to take full responsibility, which would only mean that all law suites would come straight to her. With a sigh, figuring that she probably just over thinking things, Shoshi spoke, "Good to see you're all excited. Let's go." She started ahead of the group leading the way. Since it was only a new discovered and dug up tomb, the tomb was quite far from Donzogakure. She had visited it before the mission, and from estimation, walking it would have taken them probably over thirty minutes.

She didn't really care for rushing to reach their though since the air was cool and still. More importantly, even though the three weren't her students, she always had a knack for adapting to children like if they were hers and the three were no different. To build the bond between the four, she started to ram-shack her mind for any possible thing to say to make conversation with them. She figure that the three knew of each other already so asking them to do general greetings probably would be redundant. "Mm, since we won't be reaching the tomb in sometime, you all should take this now," she said, rummaging through her pocket and pulling out three bands and handing it to them. "These bands will enable us to communicate even within the cave providing that you have chakra to maintain." she held up her own band so that there wouldn't much confusion as to how to put it on.

She looked at them once more and then turned back. "Uhh..." she thought, folding her arms over her chest. "I guess you all don't know as much about me as I know about you, so we could probably also do that now. Any questions at all?" she said, biting her lip. She was pretty good with kids but dealing with teens, especially when she remembered how she was in her own teenage years - although she was certainly was that average - she felt flustered about the entire thing.

Natsu was the first to arrive. Arumi wanted to give her usual greeting, but she wasn't so sure about calling someone Boom Bitch or Nasty Natsu while on a mission and in front of your leader. So she let it go for now, just giving a wave and a nod. The Boom Bitch was looking more businesslike than usual, armored and with her hair out of the way. She actually looked like a ninja instead of a kid in a giant coat. Arumi was a little concerned about her own lack of armor, but reminded herself she had ways around it. If it came down to it, the Brute jutsu could protect her.

Arumi was less reserved when Sal arrived. She hadn't known her little bro would be on this mission! She clapped him on the back, smiling wide. "Hey there lil' Sal! You ready to go kick some ass?" She winced a bit, remembering what had happened the last time she had greeted him so enthusiastically, but they were at street level now. It was safe.

They moved out, and Arumi put on her band. This was exciting! They had some sort of chakra radios that wouldn't be disrupted by the tunnels and dirt all around them. She wondered if these were new, or if she'd just not been paying attention when studying ninja tools. Probably both. Their leader seemed very professional, mainly focusing on the job. Arumi felt that she should at least do the same, and started considering how she should prepare. "Shoshi-san, I've got a couple sensory ninjutsu. Should I activate them now?" The genin knew that those would be less useful when they split up, but for now it could come in handy. At the very least, it could save her own ass when they were all off doing their own thing. She wasn't sure how well their glorious leader had been briefed about their abilities, so it was best to get this out in the open as soon as possible.

Natsu smiled seeing Sal come running. She hadn’t been expecting the young Genin to be coming but it wasn’t unwelcome. She nodded to Sal after Arumi finished hugging him to death. She hadn't seen him since the time she had found him in normal training ground, that had been a few months ago. He seemed a lot better now, maybe hanging out with Arumi was good for him. "How have you been Xsal. I haven't seen you in a while. You seem to be doing well."

She turned her attention back her captain as she handed out the bands. Chinatsu nodded pulling it on, situating it on top of her head. She tapped it channeling a bit of chakra sparking it to life. Satisfied she turned back listing to Arumi explain her jutsu. Her tracking skills were top notch  but Natsu wasn't sure how useful they would be, they weren't tracking anything.

"It's not really about you, but the mission. I know the Tomb is from the time of legends but is there anything specific we're looking for?" The blonde asked curious. The mission scroll had only said that they would be searching some newly discovered tombs.

The new Chunin was aslo excited to see what was inside. She had grown up hearing stories about time of legends. Donzogakure took the place of Iwa after the tail beast ravaged the world again terraforming everything. Once upon a time they had also held two of the tailed beast. Then they had all vanished. There were rumors that two had resurfaced but none of them had been confirmed.

Also her clan could trace their lines back to the time of Legends and the Iwa’s explosive Corps. Chinatsu’s dream was to form the Explosive Corps again, and to be honored with her their mouth. “Do we know what ere the tomb is from?” She hoped this was from the time of the third Tsuchikage, then her clan started and was the high tide of the Explosive Corps.

Xsalice knew close to nothing about their mission leader besides the fact that she was chosen to be the Head Jounin of their respective village, Donzokogakure. Why she had chosen him amongst the other  shinobi in the village still puzzled Xsalice and with running late he hoped he wasn't giving off a bad impression.  " . . . Step it up Sal . . . You're better than this . . ." The thought of being the last member of the squad to arrive to the meeting point lingered in Xsalice's mind because to him it seemed like he was the one slacking the most, but when Arumi greeted him with a pat on the back his out look on the situation changed and he began to greet everyone with a smile of his own.

As Shoshi, their mission leader, began to walk to their destination Xsalice dropped back to where the so as not to disturb her as he spoke to Arumi and Chinatsu. "Hey guys, I've been pretty good. Hopefully you both have also!" The excitement that coursed through him could be heard in the way he spoke, it was almost as if he was at the edge of his seat with each word. As he scanned over his squad-mates to see if they had some of the items he had not brought along he was taken back a bit by Natsu's appearance, she wasn't in her normal trench coat, her new outfit or mission outfit seemed to fit her more and make her stand out as the battle-ready kunoichi that she was. "Looking good Natsu, I didn't think you would ever come out of the trench coat" Realizing how that may have sounded, Xsalice placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder and gave it a little pat.

The attention of the three younger shinobi shifted back to their mission leader as she passed out communication bands and explained how they worked. Xsalice merely nodded in response as he fitted the band around his wrist and applied a small amount of chakra to test if it actually worked. "Wow, this is something I wouldn't and didn't even think of . . . At least we have a head strong leader . . ." The technology that Donzokogakure had in comparison to his old village truly surprised Xsalice, but he new that everyone had certain items that best suited the environment that they were in so one village wasn't held in higher regards to the other.

As he listened to both Arumi and Natsu ask questions in regards to their mission, Xsalice began thinking of his own. Naturally he was very curious, but instead of asking the various questions that popped in his head, he simply asked the most important and informative if it was able to be answered question. "Are there any expected dangers we should be informed of ahead of time? Such as traps, guard animals, and possibly harmful vegetation?" It was best to know these things ahead of time so one could prepare adequately, at least in Xsalice's opinion it was.

Shoshi turned to Arumi first listening to what she had to say. She thought for it for a second, placing her finger to her lips, primarily she was wondering what kind of tracking abilities did the girl had exactly. She had been informed too well, and all she knew was that the girl was origin from some kind of clan of beasts. Albeit, telling her "beasts" was pretty much a broad topic. She mentally cussed her informants for the lack of information. Albeit, whatever the girl's tracking abilities were, it would be helpful for if they possibly got lost inside the Tomb. "Sure. Tombs are unpredictable, so in case we get lost your ability can be helpful since I couldn't sense anything to save my ass," she said. She was of course exaggerating just a bit, but regardless it was a established fact she was only a low class tracker.

She looked towards the other two enthusiastically. She addressed Chinatsu's question first and laughed just a little. "Tomb Raiding is more so of a adventure. That said, no we aren't looking for anything in particular. Basically we take whatever we feel will be essential inside. So pretty much if you all want you can pretty much take whatever you want if you like it. A friend of mind actually found her familiar in it," she smiled warmly. "Of course though, there is always a fifty-fifty chance that there is nothing helpful at all in them, she said this time with a bit of a sigh as she remembered the amount of Tombs she had raided with her finding pretty much nothing.

Lastly, she turned to Xsalice who was the only male among the group. "Much like how what you can find in tombs is unexpected, so are the dangers. You can pretty much encounter simple things as rats and booby traps that don't work because of years of aging, while you can expect even barriers that seal of chakra or some monster that is stronger than even out kage," she said this a bit seriously as a bit of a warning. She somewhat had a streak of luck with tomb raids since she usually would usually manage somehow to escape whenever things got tough, but they probably wouldn't be so lucky.

Answering questions, Shoshi barely noticed that they were upon the large tomb. She looked at it, almost lost in the eery feeling of it. Whenever she was doing a tomb raid she could never help but feel a mix of fear and excitement. "Okay, so this tomb has multiple sections. As much as I hate to risk it, if we split up we can cover more ground and I want to trust you, sooo... we'll basically split into two groups," she said, looking at them for possible detest. She looked at the three of them pondering how to split the group up. "I'm not sure how you all work best together, so I'll leave the teams up to you." She placed her fingers together and then two clones popped into animation. "The main tip to Tomb Raiding is to use clones. Always let them go in first so that if there is a booby trap they'll take the hit first. I'm not sure if you all have the technique, so I'll give give the other team these two.

Arumi nodded, eager to get started. This was cool, she was a vital member of the team here. The pressure was a little high being the only sensory ninja on the team, but she knew she could handle it. She growled as they walked, her ears and tongue transforming. A flood of new senses greeted her as the changes finished, taking a second to adjust to. She blinked a few times to get her bearings before giving the thumbs up. “Okay, ready. Smell and sound are up and running, I can get us a few extra eyes if we need em.” That would be an interesting one. She had never used the Beholder jutsu before, she wondered if it would be needed tonight.

She listened, nodding along as Shoshi explained the dangers of tomb raiding. Arumi wasn't too nervous, she was confident that she was tough enough to handle just about anything. The clone thing did give her pause, though. She still hadn't learned to make a solid clone. She would have to be extra careful, letting someone else send in the clones to check while her nose and ears kept guard. The other thing that was a bit unsettling was the splitting up. That happened all the time in horror movies, and it never went well. Still, this was Arumi we were talking about. She was the monster, not the victim. She would be fine.

“Alright, I don't do solid clones so I should probably go with a cloner.” she said, wanting to be sure everything was set up. She was pretty sure that meant going with Natsu, but her little bro would be in good hands with Shoshi. They could bond when the monsters were slain and the crypt looted. Arumi folded her four arms, waiting for a taker.

Natsu laughed a little at Sal's comment. "It's fine, my brother has been bugging me about as well. Gave him quiet the shock this morning. Glad to see you're doing well. You don't seem so nervous like the last time I saw you." She herself wasn't sure why her coat was such a big deal to people, no one ever got Arumi's case over her cloths; and people called her clan weird.

The blonde was on the same page with Arumi even if they didn't know it. Splitting up seemed like a bad idea considering there was one Jonin, one Chunin and a two Genin. Chi wasn't sure of her abilities to lead or protect Arumi or Sal. She swallowed and steeled herself. It felt like the chunin exams all over again except stakes seemed higher. They were also going into an unknown area with high probability injury trying to gather unknown targets. Karmi it was the exams all over again. That was enough to her to want to bash her head in.

Chinatsu spoke up. "I can make solid clones and things that can set off traps. I'll go with Arumi. We've worked together before." She suddenly remembered that she had Earth Spear as well. That could take a few hits as well; that would only be a worse case one. Her mind moved on to her other jutsu forming a plan.

Her minions she would work as puppets, trippers for traps. She wanted to use those and her own clones first. Have a jonin, even if just a shadow clone, would be comforting and helpful to have in a pinch. She was willing to wager that some of these traps were going to be golems having an extra set of hands would be helpful. Iwa didn't mess around and she doubted they would take kindly to tomb raiders even all these years later. This was going to prove to be a very terrifying mission no doubt.

A smirk rolled over Xsalice's face as he picked up on Natsu's reply. She was right after all, the "nervous lil' Sal" that everyone got to know was nothing more than an irritating and stressful phase. Hell, looking back at how much he had progressed since his first couple of days in the village he would go as far as to call them embarrassing. "Uh.. Thanks.." he said, he didn't want to give off the impression that he was any form of reflection of his previous self. Despite the morally wrong thought of something actually happening and placing himself in a position to showcase his maturity and development, Xsalice's subconsciousness didn't mind and continued to stream through different scenarios.

Growth had becoming a powerful word to him in his time here in Donzoko. He planted that idea of growth into his mind like a seed, friendships and the rigorous life of a shinobi was it's water. At the mention of possibly facing something of Kage level, he could feel a tingle of excitement coursing up his spine and filling every inch of his body. He couldn't be the only one at one point in their lives to have ever wondered if they could actually beat someone of Kage caliber. In these tombs, there was a possibility of allowing him to prove himself: not to Arumi, or Natsu, or even their leader. No, there was the possibility to prove to himself.

Despite what everyone seemed to believe, Xsalice was more than confident in his ability to not only protect himself, but the people around him. His mission success rate and degree of difficulty of said missions was a testament to this. "No need to worry about me, I'm proficient in the Shadow Clone Technique and I have a manner of tracking down and finding the each of you." he interjected right after Chinatsu spoke. His right arm extended outward while his left arm crossed over and left his middle and index finger on a specialized seal on his right glove, a puff of smoke expelled as Xsalice grasped a kunai with the insignia of the Sōichirō jutsu embroidered into the handle.

He dropped his arms displaying his kunai to its side before turning back to Shoshi. "If it is still necessary, I'll continue to aid you." he said, pausing for a moment. "I just thought that we'd be able to cover even more ground with more teams involved"
