Spoiler:

Izanami sat under the waterfall deep in thought. She was visiting a sanctuary for a bit having discovered an interesting development. After a search though the scroll it became apparent that she needed to seek out another master. It was a gift, the Gift of the Hermit Group.

As she meditated, her mind wandered elsewhere sorting thing out. It had been a month since Toshu had removed her from her Sanctuary after shattering her bone with his metal armor. She was still angry about it. She frowned and pushed it aside letting the new warm chakra fill her again and settle. There was always someone stronger. It just meant that she had to become stronger as well. The white haired woman closed her eyes still frowning at how easily she had been trounced. She sighed and focused on the strange chakra that had made its self-known.

This new chakra was warm, and seemed to calm her mind. In Kagura’s eye it was a golden color; she had seen the other older Monk’s using it. They had opened Gates to the inner sanctuary. Iza felt the golden ball getting stronger bigger. Another chakra signature neared, making her look up.

“Roku,” She opened her eyes standing, the chakra dissipating away. Roku was the head monk at the monastery, and her current teacher. He was about as old as Toshu, but he moved much better; then he was much smaller than the giant that had forced her to join, though she was taking a liking to it. “What is the matter?”

“There are people, ninja, in the village. They are looking for you. Someone told them that a white coat was here.” He looked apologetic. “No I won’t tell you who, but he has been dealt with. The only thing now is to deal with the damage done.”

“You don’t mean to…” Her eye’s narrowed slightly. They were going to kick her out.

“No, dear sister, we shall give you sanctuary. We will hide you till they are gone.” The old monk tried to sooth. He knew the story of the last Kayuga and the high priestess to the Shingami. It was surprising how devote she was, but the Gods always had reason for picking their servants. Perhaps it was for all death she had caused and seen she understood him. It was not his place to question the Lord of Death, but so far from what he had seem he had chosen well. The girl was doing well. “It you will follow me.”

Izanami nodded standing following after him touching the water as they walked across the stepping stones. Izanami watched as the other monks looked her. The older one’s nodded to her; some of the younger ones looked in awe, a few in lust.

Roku led her to the pantry before sweeping away the floor and removing a floorboard revealing a latch. He turned it opening up a secret cellar. “This way please. Don’t worry you’ll be fine. We will keep you safe.”

“Thank you.” The older monk only nodded before lighting a lantern and descending into the darkness. The stairs went on for a ways before they reached what seemed to be a shrine. There was a large setting with candles lit, illumining the room, in front of a large statue. Roku walked over to a wall opening another latch raveling another room. In this one was a simple bed and a chest of draws and a bathroom. “What is this place?”

“This is a mediation chamber. It was also used hide people during the purges, like the ones that happened in Kiri durring the Time of Legends and the one in Umi durring the reign of the Second Wave Shadow. Now this is where we shall hide you.” Izanami looked down at him awe, before bowing graciously. “I will start your training with you when the Ninja have left. Though I’m sure you will know before we do.” He Smiled seeing the look on her face. “Your gift is known well though the Monasteries. Now meditate well while we deal with the other guest.”

Izanami nodded and watched as he ascended the stairs and the door closed. She turned back the the shrine to get a better look at. A large three foot tall golden statue sat on the three tiered table surrounded by burning candles. The statue was a woman in elaborate dress, wearing an elaborate head piece, surrounded by arms. She sat, eyes closed, in a meditative pose.
The white haired woman stared at the inscription at the base. “Guanyin, the Mercy Goddess.” She was one of the three Deities that sat waiting for souls to cross over to the other side. Izanami took a stick of incense lighting it, she let in the container. She knelt, praying, before she moved to the middle of the room to meditate.

Sitting in full lotus she closed her eyes letting mind’s eye search out. She could feel out a kilometer around her. There were monks working the rice patties. Many were weeding, one was plowing a new rice patty. Iza couldn’t help but laugh a little when she passed over seeing a young one having an affair with a girl from the village.
She turned her mind toward the gates. Roku was already welcoming ANBU. They were from Donzo. IZanami cringed slightly remembering back, it seems they were still mad about that. She couldn’t tell what was being said, but their chakra signatures were calm. That was a good sign.

SHe watched as they checked the farm before returning to the main building. There they were fed dinner. By the time the chorse were done. It was time for evening worship. The Monks fell into two lines behind Roku as he led them to the sanctuary. The great gates were sealed. Iza watched as the ld master fell into a stance. He was standing upright with this left hand making a half-ram and then extended his right hand down with the palm parallel to the ground. He was suddenly surrounded by golden chakra it was shaped like the statue in the shrine. Iza stared at the stance memorizing it as he commanded one of the hands to hit the door making it glow then open.

Izanami opened her eyes returning back to her basement room. She turned her red gase to the statue. It’s eyes were open now, looking at her. Iza stood slowly, pussing her left foot back, forming a half ram sign with her left hand, holding her right hand parallel to the ground. She closed her eyes, before opening her eyes and gasping as the golden energy filled her, before bursting out of her. She gasped and screamed before it settled around.

Iza looked around her, she was surrounded by the golden chakra. She felt so warm. Carefully she started to test it out. With a thought one of the hands thrust forward, cracking the wall. The white haired woman stared it was powerful, beautiful.

A sudden spike in chakra upstairs caught her attention. She opened her mind and gasped as she watched the two ninja cut down Roku and turn on the monk. She found the traitor that had turned her in. The two ANBU turned back to the traitor after they had cut down most of the sanctuary’s population paying him.

The golden chakra around her turned dark red as she turned angry before dispapating. She charged up the stares busting open the door as she ran to the sanctuary.

“I told you if we killed them she would come.” The one in the Fox mask said grinning underneath it.

“Shut up you vile monsters. I will end you!” She glared, at the both before spotting the one that was trying to get away. She glared pulling a sword out throwing at the door blocking it. “And you who betrayed me and your sanctuary I will make you pay.” She fell into the stance again generating the golden cloak. It turned red its face angry as she attacked then with the hands.

The more they dodged the angry her she got, her attacks got faster still she caught them crushing them against the wall; red streaks pained the walls illumined in the moonlight. Iza calmed down and cried as she walked to each monk saying the right of passage praying for the Shingami to watch other them and keep them safe till the next turn of the wheel.

She dragged the traitor and ANBU out of the sanctuary throwing them in the forest before lighting the place ablaze as she walked off. She once again had been forced to act as her god’s hand diverging, it was terrible, but till the world understood that they could not play god she would have to serve as the Shingami’s hand.

Some writers are convinced that since great modern authors like Joyce and Faulkner are difficult to understand, writing that is difficult to understand is therefore great writing. This is a form of magical thinking, analogous to the belief that the warrior who dons the pelt of a lion thereby acquires its strength and cunning.
